Beringer, Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006
What Happens in Knight's Valley? Not Much.....except great wine at exceptional pricing! The back label of this 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon describes Knights Valley as a place where not much changes, no town, no spa, no famous restaurants......just vineyards rooted in shallow, alluvial soils - full of volcanic rock that gives the wine grown there, a distinctive character - much like the valley itself - and along with it's distinctive character, comes an exceptional value for 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. This one drinks like a $40 Cab and is typically priced in the $30's ....Available only to Wine and Food Club Members at Greenery Market at $19.59.
According to Robert Parker: "The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Knight's Valley exhibits aromas of sweet black cherry and cassis fruit, chocolate, earth, and subtle smoky oak, medium to full body, and a seductive, round, silky texture. Enjoy it over the next decade. Beringer continues to turn out an impressive array of wines, proving that a gigantic global operation can be focused on quality and character... Beringer's Cabernet Sauvignon program includes two outstanding bargains, one from Knight's Valley and one from Napa. They are both serious Cabernet Sauvignons meant to be drunk young, but both are capable of lasting a decade or more." (12/08) A Best Buy, Wine & Spirits: "A soft, sweet intage from Beringer's vineyards in the hills northwest of Calisotga, this shows some coffee and cocoa-like details in its tannins. The super-ripe fruit flavors may
develop more complexity with a year or two in bottle." (07/09)

Los Vascos, Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
In the mid-nineteenth century, two of the leading Chilean wine producers brought vines from Bordeaux to improve the quality of the original vineyard of Viña Los Vascos. Chile’s natural geographic frontiers protected it from the Phyloxera epidemic of the late nineteenth century and resulted in an unbroken line of wine stock that now produces some of the finest wines in all of Chile. The acquisition of 50% of Los Vascos by Rothschild (Lafite) in 1988 was the result of an exhaustive search of more than one hundred Chilean wines for one that could meet their criteria for excellence.
The 2007 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon has a clear and brilliant lightly red color. The aromas are intense, full of flowers and red fruit: strawberries, raspberries and cherries. In the mouth, it is very refreshing, alive and juicy. It is a simple wine, deliciously aromatic, balanced and with nice length

Chalone Estate Chardonnay 2007
Perched in the remote Gavilan Mountain Range, 1,800 feet above California's Salinas Valley, this rugged vineyard sits at the base of an extinct volcano bordering the Pinnacles National Monument. Chalone Vineyard is one of the few wineries in the U.S. growing grapes in limestone-based soils, the same as in Burgundy. The spare, well-drained ground, limited rainfall and low crop levels attracted Dick Graff, who wanted to make top-flight Burgundian-styled Chardonnay. Graff made his first vintage under the Chalone Vineyard label in 1966, producing what became a benchmark for California Chardonnay. Today, Chalone continue to focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and produces limited amounts of Pinot Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Syrah. All of their estate wines are grown and bottled at the estate, meaning they control everything from vine to bottle.
This 92 Point Wine Spectator rated Estate Chardonnay exhibits a complex mix of subtle pear, mineral, pleasant earthy notes and floral scents. Tight, full-bodied and ending with a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2012. 16,801 cases made.
